Curiousity!

  • Jan. 11th, 2009 at 10:52 PM

Hmm I'm kinda losing my be-creative appetite atm...

I think its scary, what if I suddenly don't feel the urge to develop myself any further later when i'm in the middle of studies? Do I truly want to do this for a living, no regrets, full forward?

Owh well, time will tell. Might be still in a lag of  the 100% relax mode which I got during the holidays.

Anyways, I'm having a lil big project set up for my self. I wanna start my own portfolio. I wanna base it on wordpress but I will make a custom lay-out. It may be simple and so, but Its really a learning proces for me so I hope this will be a project I actually will finish.

Beside this I'm starting to get busy with my Yearbook website project again, up until now it has turned into this. But it will probably see a total make-over since there will be a whole team busy on this project including me. Currently Emile and I are the project leaders though :)

This is what is made of it up until now. It was just a demo, just to see how it would look like.

btw, if your into k-pop check out this song. Awesome number & clip. Can't get it out of my head =)

  • Jan. 8th, 2009 at 6:28 PM

Woah its 09 already, not that I missed out new years eve or anything, but 08 went friggin fast.

Alot happenend to me this year, and mostly on the bright side of my life =)

I spent the holidays together with Amanda, the 2 weeks we spent together were great. Its really really fine to be with your loved one when possible. Especially when you didn't see each other for about a month. The distance might be a burden, but strenghten our relationship as well.

And she must have been the best thing that happened to me in 08. Period.

The new year celebration was really nice =) We (Amanda&Me) had a gourmet at my place together with some friends, my mom and little sister. It was fun, we chilled, played rockband, ate lotta food, laughed and watched fireworks all together.

Laudiene (friend of a friend) baked 40 Oliebollen (wth is the translation of that? OILBALLS ahaha) and Sven & Elske made 20 Appelflappen (Appleflaps! xD). And alot of props to Amanda for preparing most of the food for the evening =)!

-> Photos <- )

Another highlight is my growth as a webdesigner, although I didn't make a ton of websites I still believe I made alot of progress design-wise. There is still alot I have to learn, but If I manage to remain demanding design-wise I believe It will turn out right =).

There is still only 6 ~ 7 months left till this schoolyears ends and I graduate as an Interactive Designer. I seriously can't wait to be done with it.

I really want to go on vacation this summer, if possible to The Philippines to visit my grandmother and other relatives. Its been 9 years since I saw most of them, and within that time span alot changed.

February will be the time I will FINALLY buy the PS3 + the triple A titles that will come out by then; Street Fighter 4 + Killzone 2 + God of War 3?

May 1st till 3rd we might visit Animecon.

May 6 Amanda and I have a 1 year relationship and might go to Paris!

Summer period; vacation together with Amanda + Philippines?

Quite someting for the upcoming 6 months.

Check out this short clip made by Studio 4C for NikeID, awesome animation =)

I almost finished Hajime no Ippo btw, man that series is awesome. And a new season, after a 10 year break just went from start. Be sure to check it out if your fan of the series =).

Till next time.

MISS!

  • Dec. 1st, 2008 at 5:50 PM

HKU sucked! No course at all what seemed attractive to me. Maybe it'll be HvA after all, although I have to check out some different universities as well.

I'm terrible at finishing games. Most of the time I stop somewhere in between and pick it up again months / year(s) later. And so, the same for NO MORE HEROES. But this time I'm near the end of the game, just one boss away before the goodness is over. Every boss if unique in its own way and very cool designed. Travis Touchdown, the main character is an otaku who met an chick at an bar called deathmatch, made an deal with her that if he got ranked first he gets her and so, with his beamkatana (won fron an auction site_ he fights his way through the top10 list of assasins.

Awesome game, can't wait for prt. 2;

Bleh, still have to wait for another 2 weeks before I see my girl again. In total thats a month length since the last time we saw each other... The distance between us really really really sucks ass. Badly. =(

For now, I'm going to the open house from the HKU to  check if I'm able and wanting to apply to it.

Life of a student :p

  • Nov. 20th, 2008 at 7:50 PM

The past few weeks have been quite goody.

My birthday was a succes, although a real celebration is yet to come.

The weekend from the 7th of November till the 9th I was with my girlfriend in Amsterdam to celebrate our 6 months being together. We did lotta stuff! We stayed over at the Krasnapolski Hotel and we had dinner at a really good restaurant called Altmann (quite expensive, but seriously worth the effort cash). We had some burgers at Burgermeester which is a hamburger restaurant which is goooooood at well and visited the Rijksmuseum to check out some art and watch the exhibition of Damien Hirst - For the Love of God.

It was this fully diamond plated titanium skull what the exhibition was all about. Hirst put about 20 million dollar into his project and is the most expensive work of art ever to sell by a living artist. Rumor goes he sold it for 100 million dollars to an investment group but still owns a percentage of his work.

When I saw this piece it actually reminded me of how worthless richdom actually is in comparison to life. Money can't buy life.

We also spent some time shopping (actually my girlfriend) and had great breakfast buffet at the wintergarden located within the Krasnapolski.

Conclusion; A great weekend consisting mostly out of food haha ^^.

School got me stressing again with deadlines and projects. Currently I'm working at a concept for website for the final year students of our schools yearbook. Emile and I came up with M4 as a city. Behold my work up until now;

Its far from done and far from being a city, but it was a start. Bad thing is that my teacher found this a bit too neat. So we have to redo it partly.

Last week thursday I also had the birthday of [info]criticalmess . Kevin, Sven, Ron and I gave him Mirrors Edge for his birthday and we got a great party as a reward =P. We played alot of Rockband, drank some beer and enjoyed our time.

At the moment I'm feeling kinda irritated, occupied by thoughts and things around me. So much to do for school. I'm feeling like giving up my HBO speedcourse because I lack the discipline of studying each night.. Tommorrow I have a test, wednesday a presentation and the week after exams in where we have to show our portfolio etc and I still have to redo the website of the previous project...

The pro's and cons of being a student =p.

Nov. 3rd, 2008

  • 7:33 PM

Owh man, what a upcoming week this is, so much to do, so much events.

You know, sometimes you have a moment that when your supposed to be busy and all,  you ain't doing shit. You feel tired and some things seems negative but they aint. I feel like that right now.

My birthday is upcoming wednesday but I probably will celebrate it somewhere end november / early december. I will have a some sort of pre-party though. Gues I'll have some friends come by, eat some cake and drink a beer =)

I'll have to correct the website I made previous project, I didn't post the final result here but I thought it was pretty tight but it got slammed down with a 5/10 because of some technical details... I think its quite unfare to measure them that heavy on the total but heck, who am I to go against a teacher =\ I was quite pissed at that moment, I'm making serious effort here and I ain't doing it for a 5. I'll have to redo it though. And I'll come back with at least an 8! >:(

At the moment we started with another schoolproject, but I'll hook you up with that stuff when I feel like it =).

Upcoming thursday will be the day I'm together with my girl for 6 months! Time flies by when your in love haha. So upcoming weekend will be a bit of a double celebration =). Hurrah!

TGS08 / Webtemplate

  • Oct. 9th, 2008 at 1:48 AM

The Tokyo game show is just up ahead! Can't wait for some big announcements by Sony since they have 14 unannounced projects! I'm afraid they will be some lame expansions or so. Hopefull for a new game of team ico (Shadow of the Colossus) and who knows.. we might see a Kingdom hearts 3 :).

This week is crazy filled with homework. For next week thursday I have to finish this project called magazine. We all had to come up with a concept, pick the best one of the selected teams and work those out. I'm responsible for the website and made an beta design. The idea behind our magazine concept is 'user generated content'. The subject is widely art, aimed at students who might be interested in following an education in this proffession.

The magazine however has to have a close relation to the website and must be viewable from within the website, but a straight copy from the magazine to the web is strictly forbidden.

My beta design;

It stills needs some finetuning. I'm not really oke with the 'user posts' so I have to refine that part so it will be more.. calm. Another thing is user friendliness. I think it needs a quickpost button so people can post their articles in just 1 click away. And yes.. I stole the userbar thingie from LJ  :D.

The melkweg in Amsterdam started yesterday to show some anime series + movies. Including Nana, Full Metal Alchemist and the Live Action movies from Deathnote. I will be visiting one movie; The girl who leaped through time, thats showing upcoming monday.

See you there?

Abunai! A weekend full of.....

  • Sep. 30th, 2008 at 9:30 PM
Spongebob ft. Bape
And so we went to Abunai, accompanied by Ron, Kevin and Amanda =). Although we had our share of fun, abunai itself wasn't that great. List of events we did @ the convention grounds:

- mahjong event *mahjong is fun!*
- dealerroom *for the first time in 5 years I didn't buy manga at a con*
- playing tsaai moei and remain being sober *first time in 2 years I haven't been a little drunk at a con*
- entered the Soul Calibur 4 compo *but got my ass kicked in the first round by a guy who actually won the contest*
- sou concert *Some kind of J-pop cover band but we got out after 2 songs*
- Watching Machinegirl *18+ rated film, but got kicked out because we didn't had any ID card with us*

And some more I might have forgotten.

My gf made us some obento for the drive to Abunai :D! Check it! ^^

:D Sweet huh?

:D yum!

So far my weekend.

Click here for school crap :E )

  • Sep. 21st, 2008 at 12:24 AM

Been a while, but I'm back!

Summer was great, it was a calm nice summer for me. I didn't go on vacation or what-ever but it was special like any day actually is.

School has started again and I'm in my last year of college. I just started my last year of college together with my first year of university, so I can skip 1st year and start right off with the 2nd year next summer.
Because of that I'll have extra classes and I thought it would be something easy like 1-2-3. Gues I pretty much underestimated it xD. It's not like its hard or out of my league or anything, its just that I lack the discipline to study... I'm so used to the education system of our college (projectwise education) that its actually pretty weird to cram knowledge from a book into my brain like I did 5 years ago in highschool.

I also just ended with my latest school project. It started off with camp where everyone was shown their group with whom your stuck with for the rest of the year. With this group we had to start-up a company within school. For this project you had to come up with a name, a theorie behind that name and a corporate design. At the very end of the project you had to present your company with a marketstand on school.

This presentation would be judged by some teachers and by The Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (KvK). There were 2 prices, those judged by the teachers and those judged by The Netherlands Chamber of Commerce. We were left out in the ranking of the teachers, but we ended up 3rd place ranked by The Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (tires you reading that name it this much time ain't it?). I was responsible for the design of the businesscards and the website :D. Check out below;

Designwise its oke but It gives more of a nature-vibe then it should represent the website of an interactive company. The background was changed to a olive green color as well,  but I liked the wood background so I kept it in this picture :P.

More perapera here. )

E3

  • Jul. 15th, 2008 at 8:17 PM

The E3 has started yesterday with a kickoff of Microsofts pressconference. They copied the Mii concept calling it Avatars and made a nice update of the XBLA dashboard. There were some new deals with various companies. Netflix for an example. With this partnership Xbox live members can rent movies online without additional cost! You have the be an U.S. Citizen though, or have an US account :p.

Besides that some mighty good games were shown like Fallout 3, RE5, Gears of War 2 and major announcement of Square Enix that Final Fantasy XIII will go multi platform... This game was for alot of people 'the' excuse to buy a PS3, but since that reason has gone down the pipe I'm curious what Sony will do to make their shiny black machine still attractive.
